and Geophysical Research recorded an earthquake today, Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at exactly two o'clock and sixty-five minutes in the morning Cairo local time, its power is 3.7 degrees on the Richter scale and at a depth of 4 km, in the Dead Sea region, and is a distance of 140 Km east of Al-Arish city and 160 km southwest of Amman, Jordan, and it was not possible to monitor the occurrence of casualties or losses inside the Egyptian territories.
Dr. Gad Al-Qadi, the head of the institute, revealed that the rest of the global networks data is being analyzed and integrated with the data of the Egyptian network and more information is monitored about any negative effects in the vicinity of the earthquake center, whether inside the occupied Jordanian or Palestinian lands or the Egyptian lands.
The National Seismic Network operates through 70 stations whose locations have been precisely chosen in the light of the seismic history of all of Egypt, and it has become impossible for any earthquake to occur without registering it and monitoring it, whatever its strength, even if it is less than zero.
The National Seismic Network is one of the most recent networks in the world and Egypt is one of the first countries in the world and North Africa and the Middle East in this field, as it dates back more than 150 years and we have the largest seismic history in the world dating back more than 5 thousand years, although monitoring Earthquakes began with the beginning of the twentieth century, but the ancient Egyptian civilization and the history of earthquakes in all history books date back more than 5 thousand years, which gives weight and strength to Egypt in monitoring and dealing with such natural phenomena.
